Professor C. James Kirkpatrick was welcomed as visiting professor at the University of Gothenburg at the Professors Inauguration, May 9.


 

Professor C. James Kirkpatrick has a triple doctorate in science and medicine (MD, PhD, DSc) from the Queen’s University of Belfast (N. Ireland) and since 1993 is Professor and Chairman of Pathology at the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) in Mainz, Germany. He has a special interest in human cell culture techniques to study cell-biomaterial interactions, and has pioneered complex co-culture systems in three-dimensions. Current work is on nanoparticle interactions with the air-blood and blood-brain barriers, as well as on adult stem cells in vascularization of tissue engineered constructs.

 "The effect of tobacco exposure on bone healing and osseointegration"

Shariel Sayardoust Tabrizi successfully defended her PhD thesis on the 8th of Juni, 2017. The faculty opponent was Professor Lyndon F. Cooper, University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, USA. Supervisors were associate Professor Omar Omar, Ola Norderyd and Professor Peter Thomsen.
