About Karin Ekström

Karin Ekström did her undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Gothenburg, earning a medicine master in pharmaceutical bioscience in 2004. Karin Ekström received her PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 2008 with the thesis "Exosomal Shuttle RNA". Karin Ekström is currently a researcher at the Department of Biomaterials.

Research interests:
•Cell-cell communication during implant healing and bone growth
•The role of exosomes as messengers at the biomaterial-bone interphase
•The influence of material properties on cell behavior and exosomal communication
